In the first period, the Saints got off to a hot start at 2:02 with Braden Martz (Brandy Edwards) crashing the net and deflecting his shot pass the goalie, who would add another one on an amazing wraparound 3 minutes later to take a 2 – 0 lead. The Wolves would later finally get on the board on a great goal from Saverio Romano at 13:40, whose high shot eluded the goalie to cut the lead to one goal. However the Saints Brandy Edwards had an answer a minute later to help her team regain the two-goal lead at 3 – 1 to end the frame.
In the second period, the Wolves scored a quick goal 45 seconds into the frame on Saverio Romano’s second of the game, which was scored in a similar fashion on a high shot as the first one to trail 3 – 2 to the Saints. The Saints had a great opportunity to extend their lead on a power-play with Saverio serving a two-minute penalty for interference, but the Wolves penalty kill would come up big for them. It would give the Wolves a momentum boost where they had a few chances to score however Saints goalie Tracey Taylor made some spectacular saves to keep the lead for her team.
In the third period, the Wolves would start the frame like the second scoring a power-play goal from Saverio Romano (Mitchell Stark) 23 seconds in with Saints Braden serving a charging penalty to tie the game at 3 – 3. The intensity would pickup after that with both teams gunning for that tiebreaking goal, which the Saints would find at 9:02 on a great shot from Brandy Edwards (Matthew Cockburn) going off the post and into the net to take a 4 – 3 lead. With 5 minutes remaining in the game, the Wolves had a huge opportunity to tie the game up with Brandy Edwards serving a dangerous driving penalty but Saints Isha Joshi (her 1st career goal) would end up scoring a shorthanded goal at 11:15 to extend the lead to 5 – 3 after a big mistake from the Wolves forward and goalie. Saints Brandy Edwards (Isha Joshi) would add a late goal at 14:36 to complete a 6 – 3 victory and a 1 – 0 series lead over the Wolves.
